Imagine a tranquil oasis, surrounded by water, inspired by the water, with views of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Now imagine this refuge is in the middle of one of the most dynamic and diverse cities, with access to world-class arts and culture, vibrant nightclubs, Michelin-starred restaurants, and pristine parks and beaches. Finally, imagine that this peaceful sanctuary is a wave-like building designed by Miami’s most influential architecture and design firms, including Arquitectonica, A++, and Enzo Enea, with all the conveniences of modern living—and then some. Think: a 15-slip private marina right at your doorstep. This is Onda, a new boutique luxury living development on Miami’s Bay Harbor Islands.

“Onda” is Italian for “wave,” which is a reflection of both the waterfront location and the design by Arquitectonica cofounder and AIA award winner Bernardo Fort-Brescia. “We imagined a design that would embody the waves of the ocean,” explains developer Valerio Morabito. “Onda’s undulating exterior balconies reflect the movement of the water and the beauty of the bay.” The eight-story building’s statement-making architecture is matched by lush landscape architecture by Enzo Enea. Of note: the rooftop pool area, where tropical flora adds just the right amount of privacy.
This upscale and understated neighborhood is one of the city’s most exclusive. Encompassing two small islands, surrounded by water, it is a serene and largely residential haven that offers easy access to the best of Miami’s culture and offerings. Its neighbors are Bal Harbour and Surfside to the east, Indian Creek to the south, and North Miami to the west.
There are just 41 residences, an exclusive collection of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes and penthouses. The water is the focal point, with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors leading to private gardens and terraces affording residents 24-hour access to the bay. Interiors by design firm A++ are sophisticated but inviting, thanks to natural touches like wooden doors by the Italian brand Barausse and bathrooms decked out in Statuarietto marble. Technology is another important feature at Onda, including energy-efficient, ultraquiet air conditioning and heating; air and water filtration; and fiber-to-the-home high-speed internet for ultimate comfort and connectivity.
Water and wellness are the dominant themes for Onda’s amenities, which include a lobby-level wellness area with a private spa and state-of-the-art gym, a rooftop pool deck with ocean and bay views, the waterfront setting with 300 feet of bay frontage, and a private marina with direct ocean access, as well as paddle boards and kayaks for water adventures. But it’s the location on Bay Harbor Islands, with easy access to everything Miami has to offer—and the advantage of separation from its busy hub—that makes it so extraordinary. “I’ve always loved the city, but the most interesting parts aren’t in the center,” says Morabito. “They’re at the edges. The edges are where the city relaxes, where you find a sense of perspective.”
