New Looks at Cast-Concrete Financial District Residential Tower

Sir David Adjaye’s 66-story Financial District residential building, 130 William, is taking shape. New photos posted by New York YIMBY show off the building’s elegant hand-cast concrete facade and distinctive arched windows. The nearly 800-foot-tall building, Adjaye Associates’ first high-rise in New York, will hold 242 condos. Prices for available units currently range from $1.295 million, for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom residence, to $6.89 million, for a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom residence with a loggia. Closings are expected to begin this year.

Principal Tower neighbors the Principal Place office development, also designed by Foster+Partners, which has been leased in full by Amazon for its London headquarters.

Three-Michelin-Star New York Restaurant Poised to Reopen

New Design for Japan’s Tallest Building

A tower under construction in Tokyo — modeled after a flaming torch and planned to top out at 1,279 feet — is poised to become Japan’s tallest building when it opens in 2027. The project was first announced in 2016, but CNN reports that developer Mitsubishi Estate unveiled the building’s new design and name, Torch Tower, this week. When it’s complete, the 63-story building will contain mostly office space but will also include shops, restaurants, a hotel, a 2,000-seat grand hall, and a bathhouse. A recessed portion near Torch Tower’s apex will give way to an observation deck called “sky hill” that overlooks the city and nearby Mount Fuji.
