Where Relaxation Amenities Go Beyond the Norm

By: Wendy Helfenbaum

Savvy condominium buyers expect top-shelf relaxation amenities like saunas, pools, and on-site treatment rooms when scouting developments. But discerning consumers these days also seek out wellness-oriented properties with high-end spa amenities offered on-site for the ultimate convenience: not having to leave home to find bliss. From a rainforest-inspired shower to a sauna that uses lights to renew and rebalance the body, these offerings at six standout condominiums push the envelope of spa amenities.

50 West – New York, New York

After a long workday, unwind at the full-floor Water Club inside Time Equities’ 64-story luxury condominium tower, 50 West. The highlight? An experiential shower with six different settings, including a tropical rainstorm mode that mists, showers, and steams while the water temperature and lights change colors in rhythm with soothing nature sounds. The spa and athletic pavilion also feature a 60-foot swimming pool, a cedar-lined sauna, and a marble steam room, plus spa treatment rooms and a yoga studio.

Turnberry Ocean Club Residences – Miami, Florida

Residents of this luxurious oceanfront complex not only get exclusive access to more than 70,000 square feet dedicated to wellness and state-of-the-art spa treatments at its on-property spa, Calm, but they also have access to the âme Spa and Wellness Collective at Turnberry Isle, which features a custom-designed Himalayan salt suite as part of its three-step “Journey to Wellness.” First, spa-goers can enjoy the aroma, chroma, and music therapy steam room, followed by the Himalayan salt suite, where negatively charged ions can relieve respiratory health concerns and skin conditions. Then, they can transition to a signature Swiss shower that sprays different water temperatures and pressures over multiple body zones for relaxing hydrotherapy.

The Residences at Mandarin Oriental – Honolulu, Hawaii

Mandarin Oriental is known worldwide for its holistic spas, and this new 37-story Honolulu property that will house residences and a hotel is no exception. Located steps from Waikiki Beach, the property will boast pampering spa treatments along with rooftop pools and a serene tearoom when it opens in 2023. Residence owners will be granted preferred access to the spa, the largest in Oahu at over 20,000 square feet, where they will receive treatments inspired by ancient therapies and the healing properties of water. There’s also an on-site mixologist to create personalized experiences.

ALINA Residences Boca Raton – Boca Raton, Florida

This newly completed tower houses luxurious spa amenities, but residents who head outside to the property’s Water Oasis are really in for a treat. This space, designed by GarciaStromberg, features a large fountain filled with lush palm trees ideal for meditation or relaxation. The outdoor space also has a fireside lounge and private cabanas. Inside, the spa offers space for yoga, saunas, and steam and salt rooms, plus lounging areas to curl up with a book.

Arbor Eighteen – Brooklyn, New York

In addition to a designated meditation room, yoga studio, and Zen garden on its Sanctuary Level, this luxe 11-story condominium near Park Slope also treats residents to an infrared sauna with built-in advanced chromotherapy—a European concept featuring multicolored lights that can renew and rebalance the body’s energy. It’s particularly well-suited to residents who are lacking vital vitamin D, a common issue during winter months. The lamps emit heat that’s absorbed by the skin, creating a similar effect to bathing in natural sunlight for a feeling of overall wellness and vitality.

One Manhattan Square – New York, New York

Designed by architecture firm Adamson Associates and developed by Extell, this sleek, 80-story glass tower offers residents more than 100,000 square feet of amenities, including an authentic Turkish hammam steam room inspired by the 14th-century Ottoman Empire. Featuring heated benches, private recessed stone chambers, and soft lighting, the hammam also includes a cold plunge pool and sauna. There’s also a 75-foot saltwater pool and hot tub on the premises. The condominium’s curated relaxation services and treatments can be booked through the building’s concierge. The property has everything required for an urban oasis: there’s more than an acre of outdoor amenities–the largest private outdoor space in the city–including a tranquility garden, a tea pavilion, and a treehouse.
